A Step Closer

CABINETS!  WOOT!

Monday was a good day for the studio!  Our neighbor came over to install the cabinets.  Billy and he got them up with little trouble.

After the install, Billy and I took a little trip to Lowe's to pick up the door for the bathroom.  The flooring folks said it would be better if the door was installed before they arrive.

I'm taking a little trip to visit a friend for a few days.  Hopefully, the trim guy will get the door up before I return.

Little bit of Work!

Today wasn't very productive.

Monday, Billy and I did a lot of sanding on the cabinets.

Tuesday, I did a little painting (KILZ).

Today, I had to run into town (and by town I mean Mabank...sometimes I mean Dallas or Tyler).  Stopped by Brookshires to see if I could find some Grub Rub.  It's a rub for chicken or pork I used to buy all the time.  They didn't have it at Walmart the last time I went and I knew I had seen it at Brookshires.  But, nooooo!  Arrrggghhhh!  So I found something that has some of the similar ingredients.  I hope it's good or it's back to the drawing board!

I went to Brookshires then to the PO to mail three swaps.  I had B is for * Dotee and C is for * Dotee.  Bug and Christmas.  I also had a tube pillowcase for another swap.  Then off to Walmart to pick up a few things.

So, with all that running around I got very little painting done.  I did get all the doors (one side) painted and the fronts to the drawers.

Tomorrow the guy from 50 Floor is coming by to quote on the flooring.  We have really been running into a wall with either finding the right flooring or finding someone to install it.  I just decided to find a store or someone to do it.  I hope these guys aren't too expensive.  I'm running out of money!!

Gotta go!  Tonight is a new episode of Major Crimes!!

Getting closer!

We took a little camping trip this past weekend.  We drove up to Martin Creek Lake State Park.  It's a nice little park.  It's a power plant lake so, if you have a boat, there should be some nice fishing!  We checked in to a site on the water.

This is from our site at sunset.

We did a little antiquing in Longview.  I found this large mason jar full of goodies for only $15 bucks.  When we got back to the site we opened the jar and all of it's little pleasures fell out.  There was an old smoking pipe with the initials H.W. carved on it.  The pipe had been turned into a little pin cushion with a bit of velvet sewed into a ball and inserted into the pipe bowl.  There were loose old buttons, unused buttons on cards, loose beads & necklaces and bracelets and earrings.  There was even a roadrunner broach.  It was quite a lovely find.
Billy got a good picture of me and CiCi at breakfast Friday morning!  Remember...camping hair don't care!!
CiCi is such a poser!

So, while we were gone, the electrician put up the LED lights and turned on the electricity to the Studio.  Our neighbor finished the cabinets and delivered them this afternoon.  I'm going to get busy tomorrow and start sanding and put on a coat of KILZ.

We hope to pick up the flooring, baseboards, & bathroom door this week and by next week get all that installed.  Then we are pretty much done!  I still plan on going to IKEA to get some Kallax shelving.  I'm pleased with the progress!

 For now,

Happy Crafting,

Still waiting Around!

Here I sit all broken hearted.....but this sentence doesn't end in the regular fashion!  The Electrician said he'd be here today...but, it's only 11am so it may still be early in the construction business.  I just sent him a text so maybe I'll hear from him soon.  I would love to have electricity today!  It will make the studio sooooo much better!

Never heard from the flooring guy either.  He said he could save us 10% so I guess I'll just go to Lowe's and charge it on my Lowe's card and get 5%....better than nothing!

I have been doing a small bit of crafting for swaps.  I still have access to a bit of my stash for making Dotee dolls.  I'm hosting a series of Alpha Dotee swaps.  Just sent off A a couple of weeks ago and now is time to send B.  I didn't get a picture of A.  It was an Armadillo Dotee.  The fabric had armadillos on it and it was shaped like a half moon/armadillo.
This is B for Bug!  It is really cute in person.  These pictures make it look really ugly!

I went ahead and made the C Dotee.  C is for Christmas!

Just waiting around!

We are waiting on a quote on flooring from a guy Billy met.  He asked us to pick out our first and second choices and he could find something similar for 10% less than what we find it for.  I'm not sure they can find anything cheaper than $0.99 per sq ft.  But, here we sit waiting.  The neighbor who is building the cabinets is having a time finding the plywood he wants to use.  Hopefully Groom & Son Ace Hardware will get some in this week.  The guy who is going to do the trim and hang the bathroom door can't get to us until next week.  Hopefully, everything will be done by the first of March.

I bought some spray paint to use in the Studio.  I'm planning on using it to paint containers and such to be all matchy-matchy!

The left is Rustoleum Metallic Matte Nickle.  The right is Restoleum Smoke Gray

Restoleum Navy & Satin Classic Navy

This is from Krylon's line of Sea Glass.  The color is called ICE.

This one reminds me of frosted glass.  This was sprayed on an old Ball canning jar I found in Billy's shop.

I bought a few small containers from The Dollar Tree this morning when I went in to Canton to get the Travel Trailer registered.  We are going on a camping trip this weekend.  CiCi and I went out to check what items we need to restock.  She hopped up on the dinette while I was out there and was so stinkin' cute I couldn't help but take a picture.
Billy had to take the trailer to get it inspected so I could get the registration today.  To take it in we had to close it up like we are traveling as we normally keep it set up like we are camping.  When he got back he opened one of the slides and broke the clock.  Dang!  Now I have to go shopping for a new clock!  Rats!

Well, happy crafting!

Good Day!

I've been kind of down about the progress of my room.  I understand the part about my life that thinks everything should be completed when I want it completed and forget there are other people with jobs and lives that just don't revolve around me.  But, sometimes I forget....actually, a lot of the time and this past week has been one of those times!  However, today was a good day!

The A/C guys showed up this morning and put up the registers and the return air vent.  Everything should be good to go with that once the electrician can get juice to the room.

The Electrician showed up and did quite a bit of work.  He put in all the switches and outlets and even hung the ceiling fans and the vanity light for the bathroom.

After the trying week with the paint I'm glad to see this progress!  We are hoping to get flooring next week!  Woot!

What am I gonna do today?

Today...I think I will rest!  "Larry" came by to check out the lumps in the walls.  Turns out it was poor craftsmanship by the framer.  "Larry" could fix it but, it would take a couple of more days to fix and even after that he couldn't guarantee we couldn't see the lumps.  Sooooo....we just painted a second coat over everything and hopefully all the goodies, furniture, and shelving will hide most of it!  Fingers crossed.

I should be at my neighbors working on the cabinets for the kitchen but I'm SORE!  HA!  Painting takes a lot out of an old woman!  Maybe tomorrow!  :-)

Oh no!!!

Now that football season is over I say "GO RANGERS"!!!!!!!

This is Billy and I at the ballpark last season.

I'm so ready for opening day at the ball park.  It's kind of a tradition in our family.  We haven't missed an opening day in over 10 years.  Last year we actually had tickets to the game.  But, I really enjoy the tailgating most of all!  I'm really looking forward to it.

Well, we had a little SNAFU in the Studio.  The texture dried over the weekend so we started painting yesterday.  We found we are not really very good at painting but, that really isn't the issue.  There was a problem with the tape over the butts of the sheetrock.  It looked OK before we  painted but after a little paint was applied you could really see the stripes.  I called the boss lady and she is sending the guy back to fix it.  I hope, hope, hope it doesn't take too long.  I've scheduled the electrician for Monday and I don't want to delay him.

Our neighbor is going to help (or rather, I'm going to help him) build the small cabinet we want to put in the kitchen area.  He came by yesterday and said he's ready when I am.  I hope I can get over there this afternoon after "Larry" arrives.

Happy crafting!  I'm really looking forward to start crafting again myself!

Texture Done!

Finally!  Tape, bed, and texture are done!  Next?  Paint.  Monday sounds like a great day to paint!  Here is a look at the texture.  The texture boss lady said it's more "modern".
Honestly, to me, texture just disappears into the wall.  I don't walk into a room and see texture.  Oh well!  I know everyone is not me!  HAHA.

Headed to the daughter and SIL's in the morning.  We are going to a baby shower. Then home again on Sunday morning to get ready for the Super Bowl party at my Sister-in-law's.  I don't really have a favorite NFL team so....GO COMMERICALS!!!
